Shamans

Shamans and other indigenious people basically have a very spiritual aspect on life (Native Americans etc). If you look at it in the way that they've followed their practices for thousands of years. The shaman of the rain forests have used the same 'tools' for spirituality and physical cleansing for thousands of years. It is similar to getting off prescription drugs and using natural herbs, aroma therapy and what-not--what I mean, in the 21st-Century, humankind has become dependent on SCIENCE, whatever has been scientifically proven is what life is about, and also whatever has been the advances of modern medicine and pyschology to merit a godless, unspiritual aspect of life, or what can be seen and proven.

Humanity has based their perspective on what has only been established in the last 200 years based on science and psychology (ie, Darwinism) in contrast to shamanic life that has been around for, again, thousands of years.

Science is still in it's infancy when you compare it to how long human life has been on this rock.

Peyote/Ayahuasca
Peyote and Ayahuasca are hullucinic [sp] drugs made from natural plants used by Native Americans and indeginous people of South America in the rain forests, respectively. They are used for seeking spiritual truth and informally for physical restoration of mind, spirit, and body.

Visitors from the Modern World that have taken ayahuasca have turned from being abusive to loving, addicted to drugs to drug free, as claimed.

Of course, I've never taken or experienced this, but I seen a video of an actor that has:

Richard Beymer's account:
Beymer, along with others, travelled up the Amazon and met up with a shaman. The shaman brewed ayahuasca and other concoctions provided by the forest (throwing in that these plants were given by God). Ayahuasca is a nasty brew often followed by barfing. It's just an awful thing to drink, but once that is over, users start to see things just like users of hardcore drug users do. (Just to mention; ayahuasca and peyote contain THC which is what pyschedelic drugs have, it's illegal in the US, but, ironically, it is said that the human brain produces the THC chemical in minute (small) amounts, and could also explain a God-Spiritual-Someone's out there sense to our perceptions of reality).

Beymer drank the brew and applied other pastes made by the shaman and related his experiences. What he said was that these had driven out the impurities inside his body. His skin color turned blue which was a sign of the impurities coming out as said by his shaman. This was an ordeal that occured over several days in a protecting enviroment inside the rain forest.

Also, visions occured related to a highly spiritual significance.

Chris, I'll throw this in, that visions often have a serpant-like creature that is seen as a wisdom device or for good which is what contrasts by the Creation account. Is the serpent bad or good?

So to sum up:
What shamans currently tell us is that the earth is showing signs of destruction (Global Warming). Whether this has been caused by us or natuarally occuring is beside the point: Shaman in S. America, see a disconnect between man and the Supernatural or what is unseen.

Kerry's comment on Iraq

Thanks John Kerry for your botched 'joke'. Errrr, someone correct me where I should emphasis with the parenthesi. 'Botched' or not, Kerry's "joke" wasn't a wise one. Even for those that are forced to enlist end up being trained in a state-of-the-art military, operating thousands of dollars worth of equipment. Think about it, a young man, unable to attend college, finds himself in boot camp and discovers that he has a knack for mechanical things. Today, he maintains the tanks in the hot desert. Tomorrow, he'll repair your electric vehicles. Often, even a measily national guardswoman operates and maintains equipment that costs thousands of dollars.

Stupid is as Stupid does.

Of course, the GOP has really pounced on this statement. The liberal left has down played it, even attempting to say that what Kerry said isn't really the issue--if a Republican had said the same thing, the left would assault our web browsers with headline after headline--at Huffpo, more 'scandals' stretch from left to right at the headset of their home page.

Insurgent exploits

Recently the latest 'horror' video clip hit Al-Jazeera and the 'net of a helicoptor pilot's remains being dragged around like a sack of golf club parts. My first gripe is the quality. These believers of their 'true life system' manage to obtain arms manufactured by US and Russia, train the willing in combat tactics, educate the young to develop them to become fanatic missionaries, and using pamphlets/booklets like: "Homemade Pipe Bombs" and "Making A Remote Detonating Device Using A Cell Phone And Pet Hamster" they learn how to make IED's--to which, I would imagine, that they refer to these as their version of "Bible Tracts". Why then, if they have access to technology such as satelite internet, could they not use high-definition digital video camcorders?

I remember the days of the old VHS and being a young rebel passing around a well-worn tape of material of the adult kind--Baywatch--which after several hundred viewings, pauses, rewinds, and the classic "Frame-By-Frame" mode the once decent quality of watching Pam Anderson's globes undulate inside her red swimsuit as she runs sexily across a sunny beach became a static mess that sends the auto-tracking of the VCR into haywire mode. This was like watching the Nick Berg beheading. I had to view this clip dozens of times because the sound and video quality was so poor to conclude that the clip was probably a fake and that guy in the orange jumpsuit was the cousin of 'Buster' on Mythbusters. In my opinion, if these schmucks known as "Insurgents" really want to bring terror to the West then certainly they would use higher quality cams. And since they have computers they could easily upload their latest beheading into Windows Movie Maker and laydown some upbeat tracks and even get 5.1 Surround Sound-esque of their praises to Allah. I would really love to get a podcast of this and head down to the local Best Buy and pop my media card in the latest Home Entertainment System, eat some popcorn, hit play, and kick back in a leather chair.

Evil Dead book to not star in remake, fans furious

Three years ago, after the mention that Sam Raimi and company announced the remake of the cult horror classic "The Evil Dead", internet boards speculated who would replace "Ash" in religious fervor "no one can replace Bruce Campbell". Now, another rumour was mentioned that the original Book of the Dead, or the Necronomicon, will not be casted. This is the cause of the L.A. protests Monday, March 27, 2006. Books to replace the original Book of the Dead that have been mentioned: Gone with the Wind, Qu'ran, Fight Club, and the college edition of Webster's Dictionary.

Cindy Sheehan to star in Susan Sarandon flick, er, vice versa!

Here it is folks! "Cooper's blog" exclusive insider's pics to the lastest Cindy Sheehan bio-movie. Yes, I know that it hasn't even begun pre-production, but one thing is for sure is that the producers will incorporate 'stock' footage to make the movie more appealing for modern movie-goers.

CNN: Bringing in breaking news two weeks late

I watched CNN yesterday evening and there's a segment on Fred Phelps (click). A "journalist" rode along to one of Phelp's protests at a funeral of a servicemen. It is good that CNN paid so much attention to this powerful, outspoken, religious leader like it was groundbreaking eventhough this guy has been around for years. There was little mention of the Patriot Guard counter-protesting Phelp's gang of thugs. The Patriot Guard is a group of motorcycle enthusiants who request permission of the next of kin to attend the funeral. They gather with their bikes and escort the procession to the grave site as well as protect the mourners from the out cries of the protesters. You can all read it for yourself and if it doesn't draw a tear from you then you must be related to a rock.

Another segment was about the young woman raped and strangled in NYC. A woman took the side that this was a tragedy and another schmuck said "she was asking for it" just because she was drunk in a bar at 4 AM, thus this tragedy could have been 'prevented'. Little did they mention that the victim was studying criminal pyschology. So ladies, if you don't want to be a victim of rape, murder, or some sicko perv flirting with you, make sure you wear enough clothing to make you look fat, do not show any sign of cleavage, in fact, just don't go outside your home at all. Cover your face and walk 5 paces behind your husband, or your safety would be compromised and you might have a good chance of being the next victim. God, why does this sound familiar?
